Lord, I don't know...

This is another song off the disc Thrive (2002). What is so awesome about it is that it touches the very fiber of who I am and my relation with Christ. It's full of praise and love skillfully pulled together in a beautiful, touching, personal song.

You are the author of knowledge
You can redeem what's been done
You hold the present and all that's to come
Until your everlasting kingdom

Lord, I don't know where all this is going
Or how it all works out
Lead me to peace that is past understanding
A peace beyond all doubt

You are the God of tomorrow
Turning the darkness to dawn
Lifting the hopeless with hope to go on
You are the rock of all salvation

Lord, I don't know where all this is going
Or how it all works out
Lead me to peace that is past understanding
A peace beyond all doubt

Oh, Lord, you are the author
Redeeming what's been done
You hold us in the present
And all that is to come

Lord, we don't know where all this is going
Or how it all works out
Lead us to peace that is past understanding
A peace beyond all doubt

"Lead us to a peace past all understanding, a peace beyond all doubt." Isn't that just great?

Rom 8:6 For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.

"Lord, we don't know where all this is going or how it all works out." We bow to the omnipotence of our Creator, His timing, His will. Not ours.

It is so great to find Christian contempory composers who have thrown their whole heart into their songs. I have listened to the Newsboys since I was 11 or 12. I didn't always know what the songs meant but they were comforting nonetheless. Think about the songs you listen too. Break them down, pull them apart until all meaning is wrung from them. Songs like these will withstand and hold up to the Truth. And if they don't, question the worldview of the composer. There is so much knowledge to be gained from great songs like this one.
