Lord, I don't know...

This is another song off the disc Thrive (2002). What is so awesome about it is that it touches the very fiber of who I am and my relation with Christ. It's full of praise and love skillfully pulled together in a beautiful, touching, personal song.

You are the author of knowledge
You can redeem what's been done
You hold the present and all that's to come
Until your everlasting kingdom

Lord, I don't know where all this is going
Or how it all works out
Lead me to peace that is past understanding
A peace beyond all doubt

You are the God of tomorrow
Turning the darkness to dawn
Lifting the hopeless with hope to go on
You are the rock of all salvation

Lord, I don't know where all this is going
Or how it all works out
Lead me to peace that is past understanding
A peace beyond all doubt

Oh, Lord, you are the author
Redeeming what's been done
You hold us in the present
And all that is to come

Lord, we don't know where all this is going
Or how it all works out
Lead us to peace that is past understanding
A peace beyond all doubt

"Lead us to a peace past all understanding, a peace beyond all doubt." Isn't that just great?

Rom 8:6 For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.

"Lord, we don't know where all this is going or how it all works out." We bow to the omnipotence of our Creator, His timing, His will. Not ours.

It is so great to find Christian contempory composers who have thrown their whole heart into their songs. I have listened to the Newsboys since I was 11 or 12. I didn't always know what the songs meant but they were comforting nonetheless. Think about the songs you listen too. Break them down, pull them apart until all meaning is wrung from them. Songs like these will withstand and hold up to the Truth. And if they don't, question the worldview of the composer. There is so much knowledge to be gained from great songs like this one.

Are We Living In Stereo?

I have been listening to Newsboys: Thrive (2002) and one of the songs stuck in my head (actually a lot of them did, but thats for a later post). The song "Live in Stereo":

This field guide's got no soul
Digging for the sacred
In a man-made hole

The soil gets harder
The shovel won't behave
I just dug myself
Into a six foot grave

I need a new dimension
Got to Supersize
A Jacobean ladder
To a parallel prize

The walks by faith
The sight lines lie
How am I gonna tag along
With one tin ear
And one glass eye?
Well I...

I can't get there from here
When every sense is in mono
Walk by faith, you appear
I wanna live in stereo

I can't get there from here
Without a God-directed go
Walk by faith, you appear
I've gotta live in stereo

I quit, I fold, I'm done
Trying to scale Everest
Sherpa-less
Ain't fun

The best-laid plans
Are in my other pants
The base camp's buried
In an avalanche

I need a new dimension
Got to Supersize
A Jacobean ladder
To a parallel prize

The walk's by faith
The lone wolf dies
How am I gonna follow you
With blue man ears
And snow blind eyes?

It got me thinkin': As Christians we need to understand that we need to have double perception of Our Universe and God's Heaven and that prayer is the bridge between what is seen and what isn't in this life. Though God is everywhere in this universe and in heaven, He still exists outside of our limited range of perception as fallen humans. That is, until we are in tune enough with God, through prayer, and meditation on the Word, that we are able to realize His presence without our earthly sight.

He is Risen...He is Risen Indeed!!

Oh man how I love those words. Our Pastor at our old chuch used to say "He is Risen!!" and the congregation would reply "He is Risen Indeed!!". It was just a great affirmation of what was in our hearts, that Jesus Christ had indeed risen from the grave. He smiled at death...and knocked It out!! He broke free from the chains of sin and set us free!!! Isn't that just a great feeling? Death has no hold on me or any of the Believers, because we have accepted Christ's gift of salvation. We have been turned into sons and daughters of God!! Salvation is open to all, you, me, the guy next door, the murderer serving a life sentence, everybody!!

Why is this open to you? Because God cares, thats why. Do you think that we have no purpose in life but self-gratification? NO!! God has set within us a higher purpose, the purpose of God-glorification!! And He intends every person on earth to realize that purpose, which is why Jesus Christ died.

God loves each and every one of us so much, that He had His son die on a cross, a horrible, shameful death. But He Rose Again!! Not even death could bind Him. And he asks only for your dedication to Him, to love Him only and in return He will set you free!! Join me today in that Freedom!!

Pray to Jesus Christ to forgive your sins and ask to be set right with Him. Ask Him to take over your life and set you free!!

God give us the faith to do what we must,
And the determination to see it through,
Though we see that we return to dust,
Let us remember that only You are true!!

Day before my B-Day

I am really beginning to hate days before my birthday. I don't know whether to be happy, anxious, or depressed. After all I am turning 18 and a whole new set of responsibilities occurs when your that old. Driving, voting, insurance, job, and starting to move out of the nest. Its going to be interesting.
